Abstract

The aim of this research was an assessment of impact intensity of Koszalin and Słupsk cities on the socio-economic development level of Middle Pomerania communes. Rural and urban-rural communes of Middle Pomerania were included in the research. The analysis was carried out for 2015 based on data published by the Central Statistical Office of Poland. In order to determine the socio-economic development level of Middle Pomerania communes five categories of determinants were taken into account: demography, social infrastructure, local finance, labour market, technical infrastructure. The socio-economic development level was determined using the synthetic indicator. Based on the synthetic indicator the communes were divided into five classes with different levels of socio-economic development. Analysis showed that communes with high socio-economic development level were located near Słupsk and Koszalin cities.
