Abstract

The paper presents an efficiency evaluation of vocational education systems based on data from the years 2010-2015 from the Eurostat database. Development of the vocational education and training system (VET) in the European Union following the findings of the Copenhagen Treaty is beign discussed focusing on expectations. As a result of graphical and statistical data analysis on the characteristics of European VET education standards, authors, have come to the conclusion based on literature that there are still large differences between these systems. They are coming from both traditions and the inertia of these educations systems, as well as the lack of a clear definition of what are good solutions in such a system. The aim of the article is to evaluate main models for acquiring professional qualifications. Authors have attempted to identify not only positive but also negative effects. These features are discussed in the conclusions.
