Abstract

The paper analyzes the financial condition of selected banks in Poland. The aim of the work was to verify the hypothesis that prosperous banks are characterized by similar, as well as stable, high ratios. The subject of the study was the financial condition of six banks listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange with the largest capital. The scope of the study covered six years, quarterly data from banks' financial statements. In the analytical part of the work, the ratio analysis was used. The research found that PKO Bank Polski had the highest values among the ratios, and Santander the lowest. The presented results imply a general conclusion that banks with larger assets have a better financial condition.
