Abstract

This article deals with the economic and social consequences of the coronavirus pandemic. Economic crises caused by COVID-19 disease affect every country to a greater or lesser extent. Economic and monetary unions have been put to the test, and government decisions have had varying effects on a global scale. The aim of the article is to try to join the discussion on the socio-economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic. The planned analysis and evaluation required dividing the content into three main parts. The first one presents the situation just before and immediately after the announcement of the epidemic in Poland. The second one analyzes the Polish economy and presents the effects of the pandemic in three selected sectors. Black Swan - The coronavirus pandemic was a strong shock to the economy, which, despite thousands of losing industries, also emerged a small group of winners. The sub-item is a field for polemics between supporters of Keynesian interventionism and Misesian laissez-faire. In the last part of the work, the changes taking place on the Polish labor market are discussed, with particular emphasis on the situation of students. The issue of students and pupils is a specific reflection on the position of young people on the labor market during the coronavirus. The summary is an authorial commentary, a reflection on the problems taken - the coronavirus pandemic is not only huge losses counted in billions of dollars and millions of human lives - it is also a lesson in humility and a huge test of solidarity for the whole world.
